Western Trial Lawyers Association

Pride / Passion / Commitment

Message from Chairman G. David Robertson

Welcome to the Western Trial Lawyers Association renaissance! Our new Board is reigniting the WTLA’s celebrated passion for excellence — both in the courtroom and at our seminars.

The WTLA has consistently offered the highest level of continuing legal education possible for trial attorneys. Why is that? Because our speakers are the cream of the crop – the top trial lawyers in the western United States. Every year they offer astute strategies and insightful practice tips based upon their own decades of personal success in the courtroom.

But, the secret to our teaching excellence is not limited to the classroom. Small group dissection of critical courtroom techniques and tactics takes root naturally in a relaxing atmosphere where trial lawyers of all ages share their collective experiences. These small groups are not assigned – they form organically as program speakers jointly participate in conference activities outside of the meeting rooms.

What other organization provides you the opportunity to run your most difficult cases past the best trial lawyers in the country – all while sitting on a chair lift at Steamboat Springs or relaxing by a pool in Maui? Where else can you ask the top courtroom lawyer in any particular field how they would deal with the most perplexing problems presented by your cases? The WTLA’s mission is to provide all of the above twice a year at conferences which meet your highest expectations – and for 2016 we plan to exceed even that lofty goal.

Our Winter Conference this year takes place in beautiful Steamboat at The Grand Hotel, a full-service luxury hotel. Steamboat is located at the base of Christie Peak, with an elevation of 8020 feet. Steamboat’s particular claim to fame, is legendary Champagne Powder® snow in the trees for the most avid powder hounds. We have also arranged for our group to be escorted on a mountain tour by the world-famous Olympian Billy Kidd and we have negotiated an excellent contract with The Grand and The Sheraton in order to offer all of our members exceptional packages that include remarkable accommodations with impressive amenities. Each participant also receives a free dinner at Ragnar’s Restaurant with a Snowcat ride to the top, discounted ski passes, free cocktail receptions, swag welcome bag and more.

If you are like me, though, being re-energized through our Winter Conference is not enough. Your creative batteries are bound to start wearing down again by summer – just in time to say “Aloha” to the world-renown Kai Lani Resort and our Summer Conference! Many long-time WTLA members commented that the 2015 Maui Conference was the best one ever, and we have even more exciting speakers and surprises in store next year. Stay tuned for details!

I look forward to 2016 and hope to see you at one, if not both, of the upcoming conferences.

My best to all of you,

G. David Robertson
